- Click the Search button on the dashboard
To see if they already exist in MediMap, search for their:
- Medicare or DVA number if you’re in Australia,
- NHI number if you’re in New Zealand.
If no chart exists for the patient, click Add New.
- You will see different options depending what country you’re adding a patient for. The image here is for New Zealand, but we also describe the required information for Australia. There are some optional fields you can fill in as you need.
Enter the residents:- Medicare and IHI number (Australia) or NHI (New Zealand) number,
- First and last names,
- Date of birth,
- Area and room number can be added.
- Select:
- If the resident will self-administer their meds,
- The resident's type of care.
- If the resident has no known allergies, click NKDA.
- If they have an allergy:
- Click Add medicine allergies,
- Search for the med and select it from the ATC code list,
- It is important to Select All to ensure that not only a medication is added but all possible combinations of the medications e.g. oxycodone, or oxycodone + paracetamol,
- Click Confirm, add the associated severity and reaction, then click OK to create the record.
- If a prescriber tries to chart the med, they get an alert.
- Add any other allergies like reactions to bee stings or seafood.
- Add any intolerances or adverse drug reactions like reactions to adhesives or drowsiness caused by benzodiazepines.
Enter any extra information registered nurses need to know when administering meds, like how best to administer them to the patient. For example, giving the patient all meds together with a glass of juice.
Australia: select PBS or RPBS and/ or CTG.
- Select:
- The resident's prescriber, care organisation, and pharmacy,
- Any monitoring or physical limitations tags the resident needs for their safety and care.
- For Addiction Services
- Ensure that this has been selected under Monitoring tags,
- Add your DHB OST service (unless the client is in residential care) to Care Facility & Area,
- Choose the case manager from the drop-down list,
- Add the OST prescription cycle.
- If required, click the Community Residential Address, enter contact information and click Create.
