Recommendations can be used to create/update a current list of medications OR to make a medication recommendation for the prescriber to review. This needs to be turned on in your staff login profile by your manager.
- Search for the resident open their medication chart.
- Choose the appropriate tab (e.g. regular meds) on the chart, click Add new medication.
- Type in the name of the medication, you can optimize the search by entering the strength and/or dose form. Click on Search or hit enter.
Enter the charting information.

- Edit a recommendation
Click on the Edit button to open the charting box, edit the charting information and press Save or to delete click on Cancel.
- Recommend a Stop or Edit a medication
If the recommendation is an EDIT or STOP, it will link the recommendation to the current charted item but will not change the care facility interface until approved. i.e. The care facility will see the current charting and not the recommended change until a prescriber has confirmed this.
- To recommend a Stop
Click on Stop, enter a reason for stopping the medication. You can edit the stop date to set a pending stop as well. This puts a line above the chart as a recommended stop and highlights the medication line in the current list of meds.
You can also recommend that a medication is stopped and restarted from Regular to PRN or vice versa.
- To recommend an Edit
Click on Edit, this opens the medications information, make the edit, and click on Save. This puts a line above the chart as a recommended edit and highlights the medication line in the current list of meds.
- Other charting regularities
Cyclic dose - use for warfarin and other meds with cycling doses,
Alternate day doses - put todays dose in Day 1 and tomorrows dose in Day 2,
Other regime cycles - click on the + to add additional days (e.g. one day added will become a 3-day cycling regime, 0.5, 0.5, 1).
Various days of the week – choose regularity Days of Week and tick the days the dose/s are to be given.
Titration - Select dose times, units, and route,- Enter: Initial Dose, choose if titrating Up or Down,
- Enter number the dose is changing by and number of days between changes,
- Enter end dose, and toggle to Hold or Stop,
- For more than 1 dose time you will need to do this for each dose time.
