- Ensure you have the correct resident's medication chart open.
- Add a new regular medication
- Under the Regular Meds tab click on Add a new regular medication.
- Type in the name of the medication (or part of the name) and click on Search (strength and dose is optional).
- Click on the correct medication. If the item does not appear then click on the Use Text button.
- Funded medications will be highlighted in green.
- Enter all the relevant information into the Input New Medication window.
Frequency – use the dropdown to select:- Daily = dose or doses to be given daily,
- Days of the week = tick which day(s) the dose(s) is to be given,
- Monthly = Click on the start date to select the day of the month you want this med given or leave as todays date,
- Days of the week (variable dose) = cycling dose regimen. Select dose time, then specify dose for day 1, (which is always the start date), day 2, then add extra days as needed by clicking on the + symbol on the right. This will cycle until stopped or edited,
- Titration = pick the dose time(s), select the units, specify the start dose, going up or down by the number of units, pick the number of days between dose changes, pick the end dose and then choose to stop or hold at that dose,
Cyclic dosing = pick the dose time, then specify the dose for day 1 (always today), day 2, day 3 etc. This dose will cycle until it is stopped or edited,
Start Date – click on the date to change,
Units - select from the dropdown the appropriate unit,
Route – select from the dropdown the route for the medication,
Short course - tick if appropriate and then enter the number of days,
Time Sensitive - if appropriate tick the medication as time sensitive,
Quantity and dose times – enter the dose in the appropriate time band(s),
Indication for charting – this is a free text field,
Reason for prescribing – this is a free text field, the information entered here will appear directly below the medication name in the chart,
Instructions - automatically populates with quantity, dose time, route and frequency and can't be edited.
Start – will add the medication onto the chart,
Start Next Cycle – the medication will start on the date the next pharmacy pack is due to start. A pop-up window will let you know what the date will be, either Confirm or Cancel.

If the generic medication is already charted in Regular or PRN medications, a warning will appear to let you know that it is already in the resident's chart.
- A TSM tag will appear next to the medication in the resident's medication chart to identify it as time sensitive.
- The TSM tag will also be visible against the residents in the administration grid.
