- Go to Medicines Administration in MediMap and click Start Round.
- Select the area you’re doing a round for, and the dose time. Dose times use a 24-hour clock (e.g. 14:00 = 2pm).
Click Start.
- You can show the resident list by room number or last name.
The legend explains the marks shown for each resident in the round.
An empty or partially filled box on the Administration grid means meds are still due at the current dose time.
- If you can’t see a resident in the current round, click Show all Residents, then check if they have regular meds scheduled for the current round.
If you don’t see them in the list, search for them in the dashboard, then open their chart to see if they’re:- Offsite (if they’re back onsite, click More > Temporary Absence > Onsite).
- Self-administering their own meds (click Edit and see if Independently Self Administers all medications is selected)
- Go back to Medicines Administration to continue your normal round.
- Click the empty box for the dose time for the resident you’re administering meds to. MediMap takes you to the resident’s administration page.
If you click the residents name, you’ll see their administration page showing the closest dose time on your watch.
- Use the resident's administration page to do your patient medication checks.
- If a medication is charted, then the tab headings are blue.
The resident's administration page shows all packed and non-packed meds to administer at the current dose time.
After you’ve administered the meds, record that it has been done in MediMap:
- Click a PACKAGE line to record all the meds in it as administered.
- Click a non-packed line to record it as administered
The meds lines will turn green to help you see what you’ve done.
Click Finish. You’ll get a warning if you miss a med.
- When you’re finished administering meds in the current dose time, click Finish Round.
If you don’t complete the round, click Finish Round and EXIT ROUND to finish it later.
- If a medication was recorded as not administered i.e. the resident was asleep and now a few hours later the resident is awake. The staff are now able to administer and record the administration of this medication.
Open the residents medication chart from the Medicines Administration and click on Show regular meds given today.
- You are able to view the medication/s that were not administered.
- Click on the Comment button.
- Click on Administered and add a Comment and any other additional information.
- The medicines administered will be updated to show that the medications have all been administered.
Staff can add a note to the residents chart notifying other staff that the medication was given at a later time.
NOTE: The medication administration grid will update at midnight each day.
- Staff can edit an action i.e. changing the medication from administered to not administered.
Click on the name of the medication.
- Click on Edit.
- Click on Not Administered. Staff can only change their own action and not another staff member's action.
