- From the residents medication chart click on Edit.
- Click on Add medicine allergies.
- Search for the ATC Code.
- In the example below penicill has been searched for and the list expands to show anythings with the spelling of that word e.g. penicillin.
- If the resident is allergic to all penicillins, click on the Select All box. This will alert the prescriber if they try and chart any penicillin based medication.
- Search from Start function allows you to narrow down the search to anything that starts with that name, for example if the user types in penicill again then the system will only bring up medications that start with that search term.
- If the resident is only allergic to a specific penicillin, then the user can type in the generic name of the medication e.g. Flucloxacillin and click on the name of the medication to add it as an allergy.
- You can add any additional information such as Severity or Reaction associated.
- When prescribing medication always check the Medicine Allergies on the resident's medication chart as a double check.
